After attending a meeting with Dr. Harry Chen, the Commissioner of the VT Dept. of Health, which was hosted by Newark Neighbors United, Newark residents returned home to phone calls and emails notifying them of the theft of 30+ “Newark says NO to industrial wind” signs last night. The signs cost $10.00 each; the VT State Police were notified.

On 8/2/12, Deborah T. Bucknam, Esquire, of Bucknam Black Brazil P. C., St. Johnsbury, VT, filed for a Preliminary Injunction with the Vermont Superior Court, Caledonia Co., on behalf of Newark Neighbors United, against the VT Public Service Board, for not allowing a full review of the aesthetics pertaining to the proposed MET tower project by Seneca Mountain Wind, LLC, on Hawk Rock in Newark. This complaint is brought under VRCP 75 and VRCP 65. The hearing date on the motion will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 14th, at 9:00 am.

Newark Neighbors United, will be hosting Deputy Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources, Chris Recchia, on Tuesday, August 14th, at 6 pm, at the Newark Street School. Mr. Recchia will discuss the role of the ANR, with regard to Section 246 and 248.

On  Aug. 23rd, at 6:00 pm, we will be hosting a discussion with the Commissioner of the VT Dept. of Health, Harry Chen, M.D.. Dr. Chen will discuss the possible health effects of industrial wind installations.

Neighboring towns are invited to attend!
